Today, the Australian Consulate-General in Bali, headed by Consul-General Jo Stevens, hosted a special event to celebrate International Women’s Day 2026 with the theme “Women Taking Action.” Held at the Meeting Hall of Maya Resort Sanur, the event brought together a diverse group of attendees and representatives from various sectors, including private organisations, Yayasans, Hospitals, and NGOs across Bali. The program featured a meaningful panel discussion highlighting women leaders who are actively contributing to social change and community development..
The event opened with remarks from Ibu Putri Suastini Koster, Chair of the Bali Province Family Empowerment and Welfare Movement (TP PKK), who emphasised the importance of women’s empowerment and collaboration in building stronger communities.

The panel discussion included Dr AA Sagung Dwipayani, Kadisos P3A Bali Province; Susana Chandra, Commissioner of Lestari Group; Anna Sutanto, Co-Founder of Plastic Detox; and Annisa Nurulhuda, Manager of the Solution Lab at Kopernik. Moderated by Kate Shanahan.

Participants shared insights on leadership, sustainability, social welfare, and community initiatives. The event also provided a valuable opportunity for networking, collaboration, and strengthening partnerships among organisations committed to advancing women’s empowerment and positive action in society.

On a more individual level, women's domestic safety was also a discussion point during the day, with conversation focused around the issues and difficulties some women face. If you, or someone you know, is affected by this, there is a number that can be called. Dial 129 for a direct line to government support.
